So, I decided since I've nothing better to do right now, I'd make a pointless status update in the form of a blog!
I'm currently halfway through my holiday from work - I booked a ten day period off and don't have to be in until a week today, so that's actually a full two week period off! Since I work at a supermarket, I don't have "weekends" as such, so ten day period is literally a ten day block. I was only working three of those, but by booking the entire week off I avoid having to explain to my boss that I booked off those three days and didn't expect to work alternative shifts.
I'm also stumped on what to do computer-wise. Frequent viewers of my blogs may note that I seem to have had more issues with my computer in the last year and a bit than most people have in their entire lives. Well, the news on that front is that I'm apparently due an abrupt SMART Disk 4 error, which I've effectively concluded is a hard drive error with some handy help from my technologically-adept dad. I technically have enough money to afford a new machine, or at least will do so by tomorrow (I get paid weekly every Friday, so last week's wages will go in tomorrow), but since Christmas is lurking on the horizon I don't want to be caught out. Plus, after Christmas some newish tech might be going cheap - due to being "obsolete" from a top-quality POV and January Sales. Because of this, I'm weighing up a new hard drive - and am simply wondering if I should go for a "standard" SSD which'll be about £80. It should do for the meantime, at least, but I'm not completely convinced.
My roleplaying has been stopped for now. I just don't have the same amount of enjoyment doing it anymore - solo-wise I find that my character concepts are met and that the character then bores me somewhat; and group-wise I've yet to find a group who enjoys the same things as I do AND simultaneously pushes me to do my best as opposed to half-arsing it. Plus, what was fun at age x isn't quite so fun at age x+7.
Finally, I'm weighing up starting up my miniature painting/ gaming again. I'm still very much wishing to get down to properly convert and paint a Thorin's Company in cloaks (to match the Dwarves as shown in The Hobbit Gamecube game), I want to get a proper Blood Bowl team or two (or three... or four...) painted up for use if/ when I find myself with the time and money to indulge in that hobby again, and there's a number of fresh ideas in my head. However, it's a cost-to-enjoyment ratio that will factor in: will I be using these models at all, and if not, am I going to enjoy the work going into them enough to justify the time and money put into them? I'm not sure right now, so it's up in the air.
Hope this has helped(?) to inform you on what I'm up to and where I'm at!

To Nice Guys, Nice Girls and the like
Dear all Nice Guys and Nice Girls, including my past self,
Hello, I am a random member of the internet and/or your future self, checking in on you. How are you doing today? I'm doing okay, wish it was better, but that isn't important right now.
Anyway, I have the following piece of advice for you:
Please think about what you say or type or post before you in fact post it. Specifically, if you call out someone of x-gender, one way or the other, of being terrible because they wouldn't do y at your command... you are both an idiot and a massive piece of work.
Think about it, I'll start by making use of an example of a typical "nice guy" respo
Product of my own inadequacy
So, maybe it's about time I just call it, and say that I'm going to stick to softer, easier titles now. As in, I'm never going back to the hellish times that meant I had to grind away at a game until I could feel my soul wasting away to progress in it. The daily grind is a horrible, horrible point, but when it's so I can beat what is quintessentially a prologue because I fail at life, I think it's time to call it quits.
Case-in-point - most RPGs. I don't have a fucking clue about you, but I tend to either need a strategy guide or to play half a playthrough of an entire game as a "trial run" to actually understand the mechanics of everything
Thank fuck for that, I guess
So, I've been having a week off from work this week, and this morning I decided to look at TV Tropes (I know, five minutes longer, and suddenly it's 3am in the morning and where, oh where did the day go?), and I just remembered the fedora meme and the nice guy meme. And jaysus was I right in thinking that I used to a Nice Guy in all the worst sense of the term - someone who made out that they were lovely and kind and generous, meanwhile being this horribly bigoted and misogynistic bastard to women. I'm glad that now I tell people that I'm an asshole, and don't claim to be anything other than that, and let them decide how they feel about me an
Status Update Thingy?
So, it's been a while since I did one of these. Figured I should dust off the journal and let the few people who still follow me know I'm alive and kicking... clearly you guys aren't doing a good job at burying people alive. :D
Anyway, recap time:
1) Still in the same job, in the same town, doing pretty much the same thing. Though I did get promoted to Duty Manager, which in layman's terms means that I can run the shop without my Store Manager or Store Supervisor in. Effectively, I sometimes get paid an extra £2.30 odd to be in charge and have a lot more responsibility in general. -shrugs- Is what it is.
2) Hobbies... still pretty muc
